The August Thorn is on the wing throughout August and September, and is often attracted to light.

Larval foodplants include Oak (Quercus) and Beech (Fagus).

Habitat Requirements
Woodland and suburban areas throughout Britain although often local in distribution. Is often absent in areas of what appears to be suitable habitat.
