Moths - Common Wainscot (Mythimna pallens)

Two generations in southern England, June-July and August to October. In the north, one generation July to August.

Wingspan 14-17mm

Comes to light, sometimes in large numbers.

Larval Food Plants
Various grasses including Tufted Hair-grass, Annual Meadow Grass, Common Couch and Cock's-foot.

Habitat Requirements
Dry and damp grassland, urban areas and gardens. It is often frequent in woodland rides.
