Moths - Early Grey (Xylocampa areola)

This is one of the earliest moths to emerge flying from March to May.

Wingspan 32-40mm

The Early Grey is distributed throughout Britain but more common in the south. It prefers wooded areas or suburban locations where the larval foodplant occurs.

Honeysuckle (wild and cultivated)

Habitat Requirements
Largest populations are found in woodlands across the county. Also occurs in gardens where cultivated varieties of honeysuckle are grown.
