Moths - Merveille du Jour (Dichonia aprilina)

The Merveille du Jour is one of our most beautiful moths especially when freshly emerged.

Wingspan 35-40mm.

The Merveille du Jour occurs during September and October and comes to light in small numbers.

Larval Food Plants
The larvae feed on Oak (Quercus), initially on the buds and flowers and later on the leaves.

Habitat Requirements
Occurs in woodland, parks and suburban gardens, being widespread but local over most of Britain.
