Marsh Fritillary

Euphydryas aurinia

The Marsh Fritillary became extinct as a breeding species in Warwickshire in 1951. Since then, there have been several reports, all of which originate from unofficial releases by breeders and photographers. In 2007, several Marsh Fritillary were reported at Ryton Wood Meadows. These were also the result of an unofficial release.
