Mother of Pearl
Pleuroptya ruralis (63.038)
A fresh, newly emerged mother of pearl moth has a distinctive rainbow-like lustre under certain light conditions, a distinctive feature which gives it its common name. It is common throughout Warwickshire. The adults are often seen during the day on or near patches of Common Nettle (Urtica dioica) but they tend to fly from dusk onwards.
