Papilio machaon

There have been several records of the Swallowtail in our region but none of these can be said to be naturally occurring migrants. Most if not all sightings are the result of un-sanctioned releases by local breeders and photographers.

Historic Records in Warwickshire

  • 1978: One between Stareton and Waverley Wood netted by Mr L. Moore (11 June)1.
  • 1978: One at the entrance to Waverley Wood by Mr M. Vice (11 June)1.
